10 Tools To Help You Stay Motivated In Life

These goal setting #apps are a great way to keep track of your #life #goals. No. 2 is one of the best ways to keep track of #fitness & #meditation goals!! I love using it!! #bossbabe #goalsetting #selfimprovement #personalgrowth

It’s not an easy thing to stay motivated in life? We all know the seriously amazing results take hard work and time. Sometimes, through this process, we can lose a lil’ faith. Doubt creeps in and it starts saying things like “can we do this”, “who are we to do this”. Basically this little voice + lack of results in the early days can really set us back. That’s why we need to set up our mind and our external space to be the ultimate motivator!

These are 10 tools to help stay motivated in life.

Vision board

Vision boards are the ultimate way to stay motivated in life. They’re easy to make (to find ways to make them see 10 Easy Ideas On How To Make A Vision Board) and decorate your space all in one.

My favourite place to keep my vision board is in my room, on a wall close to my bed. Mine is as simple as sticking up quotes and images on my wall.

Otherwise you can always go old school with a cork board, whiteboard or even a simple frame to keep photos in!

If you want to see the steps I take to make my vision board, you can find them here – Tips For Creating A Vision Board.

Affirmation Cards

Affirmation cards are a great way to stay motivated.

I didn’t even know they existed until I ventured onto the Kikki-K website and found them!

The Kikki-K pack is  great buy. It has 40 pre-made affirmation cards and 12 blank cards. And they’re only 12.95 AUD!

Otherwise Etsy has HEAPS of pre-made affirmation cards.

Affirmation cards are a simple way to stay motivated in life. Some ideas are to carry some with you, or leave them next to your bed to read (i.e. one every night before you go to bed or when you wake). You can also add them to your vision board!

Exhausted to Energized

Finally! A book that covers every area. I like Exhausted to Energized because it covers everything from mindset to eating.

The areas she covers in her book are:

  • Brain chemicals
  • Food
  • Sleep
  • Teenagers
  • Expectations
  • Other people
  • Coffee
  • Allergies
  • Posture
  • Blood oxygen
  • Age

I think two big ones that we don’t see covered enough are expectations and other people. She openly states on her website that the “expectations  you place on yourself can be incredibly depleting of your energy – but finding out why can be life changing.”

And when it comes to other people, “Conversations with certain people have the power to either drain your energy or inspire you; learn how to identify this before it happens.”.

These are two factors I never considered related to energy until recently.

So if you’re looking for a book that covers all the ways you can stay motivated in life (and energized!) then this book this great! You can buy it HERE.

Inspiration Kit

An inspiration kit is basically a bunch of motivational material in one pack! I found these on Etsy and was excited to see that all the hard, searching work is done.

You can use them for crafts, on your vision board, on your wall, in your diary. There are SO many ways to use the goodies you can find in a pre-made inspiration kit.

I found this one on Etsy here.

Sticky Note Reminders

Good ol’ sticky notes (or post it notes) come to the rescue.

Write motivational reminders and stick them where you need them! On the wall when you wake up. On the back of your bedroom door so you see them in the morning. On the bathroom mirror. Where ever you’re going to come across them during your daily routines!

You can buy the standard ones to do the trick or you can get a bit fancy with these speech bubble sticky notes.

It’s all about what works for you!

Motivational Stories

Never underestimate the power of motivational stories. Out of all the tools listed in this post, inspirational stories are my favourite way to stay motivated in life.

This is what I did when I started blogging (and I still do). Every time I found myself struggling with doubt, I read stories of other people who started from scratch. I see what they did and what they’re advice was. Seriously, it keeps me going.

So the next time you’re struggling to find motivation, try looking at inspirational stories of people who are where you want to be. It can really help, especially when we’re stuck listening to ourselves or other people telling us it’s not possible!

Master Your Brain – Neuroscience For Personal Development Course

If you want to dig deep behind the science of how to stay motivated in life, then Udemy is the place to be! This course was just one of the motivational courses I found. But I loved the science and psychology aspect of it. It helps to create a deeper understanding of neuroscience and behavioural approach.

You will learn things like:

  • Increase your confidence
  • Manage your obsessions
  • Understand stress and learn to manage & eliminate it
  • Learn what motivates you in the long term
  • Unlock your potential by learning the parts of the brain that control things like willpower, self control & focus

Visualization

Sometimes visualization can get confused with meditation. Visualization is all about focusing on the future or thing you want consciously.

This is my favourite video on the power of visualization by the one and only Tony Robbins.

It’s a great tool to keep you motivated in life and one that I’ve used personally quite a bit. It works for anything!

Also try typing in future self visualisation in YouTube. There’s HEAPS of guided visualizations to choose from.

Phone Alarm Reminders

This little trick I also got from High Performance Habits. I keep a phone alarm every day with 3 words to describe the type of person I want to be every day.

Every time it goes off and I see those words, I stop and think whether my actions have reflected the type of person I want to be today.

So try choosing 3 words to describe your best self and put an alarm on your phone to remind yourself every day. It helps you stayed aligned and on purpose with who you want to be and where you want to go in life.

Another great way to use a phone alarm is to put a motivational question on there everyday. For example, in High Performance Habits, Brendon the author talks about courage. He says that one way to find courage and stay motivated is to ask yourself “who needs my A game right now?”. It gets you thinking about the WHO in what you’re doing. When you’re trying to reach goals, it can help to remember that there’s someone learning from you or someone your setting an example for. So using your alarm to stop and ask a question every day that can motivate you.

Motivational Alarm

Wow!! I wish I’d heard of this tool earlier.

Did you know that there’s such thing as a motivational alarm!!

So instead of waking up to the dreaded alarm sounds, you can wake up to motivational speeches from some of the greats.

There’s two that I’ve found so far:

This one plays a motivational video as soon as you wake up! This is the ultimate stay motivated in life tool. The best part is you can even set several alarms in one day! So if you know that your lunch break is more like a lunch slump, try setting a motivational alarm and watching a video?

Who else would do a motivational alarm other than The Rock! Yep, Dwyane Johnson has an alarm clock guys and it’s apparently as scary as him!

And no surprise – there’s no snooze on this alarm clock.

But his funny alarm tones make up for it. I listened to his Good Morning Sunshine ring tone on The Verge & it’s hilarious.

There’s over 25 to choose from.

The coolest albeit annoying feature is it can SYNCS with the Rock’s clock. Which means if you’re not an early bird, you might be soon. His alarm time is 4.15am. Otherwise there’s a 6am or 7am option.

So what do you think of these 10 tools to help you stay motivated in life? What do you think you’ll be using and how?
