Clarity Of Mind[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

(This series is based on the book High Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way. I highly recommend this book to create real, life changing habits. I was not paid to write this OR given this book for free. I genuinely love it and have found it absolutely life changing for me – in just the few weeks of reading it – so I wanted to share it. I hope you find it the same for you!)

“Our research shows that compared with their peers, high performers have more clarity on who they are, what they want, how to get it, and what they find meaningful & fulfilling.”- Brendon Burchard, High Performance Habits[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

The first habit in the how to be a girl boss and habits of successful people series is… clarity of mind.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

They know who they are, who they want to be & they figure out what they have to do to get there.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

But the most important bit in how to be a girl boss and finding clarity of mind is to stay close to who you are. In keeping a habit of clarity of mind, successful people keep their values & what they find important.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. And that’s half the problem with our goals. I know, for years, I was chasing the right goals.  I set so many goals and started 3 businesses before I figured out that the types of businesses weren’t what I wanted. They had nothing to do with my deeper values & what mattered to me. I had absolutely no clarity of mind.

So while we might have it all figured out & think we know who you want to be and how to be a girlboss, we have to constantly ask ourselves – are we really chasing what matters to us? Do we really have clarity of mind?

Sometimes to get a bit more clarity, we have to delve a bit more into how we want to feel rather than just who we want to be and work backwards from there.

THEN we can ask ourselves, “To feel that way, what type of person would you have to be?”, “What kind of goals what you have?”.

It’s important to remember too is that clarity of mind is something we gain over time.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

It’s something we develop by experimenting & constantly questioning ourselves.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

The four main areas of clarity

Burchard says high performers have four main areas of clarity:[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

  • “Self”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref] (they focus on what they can do to keep growing & learning)[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. • “Social”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref] (they know they want to be perceived and how they want to “treat people”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. • “Skills”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref] (they know the skills they need to have to get where they want to be)[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. • “Service”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref] (they see a vision bigger then themselves, they see how what they’re bringing to the society[ref]Burchard, B. How to get more clarity

The way Burchard helps you find clarity of mind in these areas is by giving you specific prompts.

I’ve been doing the High Performance Habits activities for the past few weeks and they’re amazing.

It’s a great way to stop and think with some guidance!

He also gives you a free Clarity Chart. It’s a weekly worksheet to answer all the clarity questions he has in the book.

Otherwise, try writing your own questions based on the four main areas of clarity above.

Some ideas could be:

Self

  • How do I want to feel?
  • What goals would I need to get there?
  • Am I on purpose today?

Social

  • Am I giving my absolute best to my family today?
  • What example am I setting to my family & friends?
  • What example do I want to set?

Etc! Remember it’s whatever works for you!

Keep it mind, finding clarity is a journey of trying, seeing & questioning![ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]
