(This series is based on the book High Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way. I highly recommend this book to create real, life changing habits. I was not paid to write this OR given this book for free. I genuinely love it and have found it absolutely life changing for me – in just the few weeks of reading it – so I wanted to share it. I hope you find it the same for you!)
“The fundamentals of becoming more productive are setting goals and maintaining energy and focus” – Brendon Burchard
Productivity! The topic of the century. With questions like “how can I do more in less time” and “how to stay focused in life” we’ve started see productivity as quantity over quality. Our to-do lists have gotten longer but our focus has gotten shorter and less clear.

Two Key Tips On How To Stay Focused In Life
Find your focus
There’s been a small shift in learning how to stay focused in life. We’re learning how to do LESS. Making our to-do lists shorter but more effective.
Another great read for this is The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results. The authors write about focus & finding the ONE task that’s most important.
Brendon call its the “art of prolific quality output (POQ)”[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref].
It’s about finding out what your “real work” is & focusing on that.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]
“Figuring out what you are supposed to produce, and learning the priorities in the creation, quality, and frequency of that output, is one of the greatest breakthroughs you can have in your career.” – Brendon Burchard
He then suggests choosing a time split. Brendon recommends a 60/40 – so 60% of your time goes to your POQ’s and 40% to other tasks.
If that’s not achievable, find a split that works for you. The point is to put your focus down to the few things that are important.

Make a 5 step plan[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]
Another suggestion by Burchard on how to stay focused in life is to make a 5 step plan. Limit yourself to 5 things you have to do get where you want to be.
“If there were only five major moves to make that goal happen, what would they be?” – Brendon Burchard
Once you find out what the best 5 moves are, you can narrow it down to weekly focuses & daily tasks that need to get done.[ref]Burchard, B. (2017). High performance habits: how extraordinary people become that way. Carlsbad: Hay House, Inc.[/ref]

How to find the steps?
Brendon uses his own personal example to show what he THOUGHT his 5 steps were to what they became once he did some research.
So to find your 5 steps – research. See what others, who are successful in your field, did. Learn from them!
