Looking for some girl power inspiration? Pretty sure these two could give Spice Girls a run for their money!
These young girls have come together with TED to provide mind opening content to say the least.
Beating the status quo for their age with authenticity and a limitless mindset, these videos offer refreshing and simple advice on life!
I’m a frequent searcher on TED. So many different minds in one place! So many different perspectives and all in as little as 20 minutes. These were the two of the best (in my opinion) videos of TED’s new Girl Power spotlight.
Jade Hameister
She features in the TED ad for this series and that alone made me think – I need to find this girls speech!
Lucky for me her Australian accent made her easy to find in the playlist. She’s a Melbourne girl and being a Melbourne girl myself I can’t help but feel a little bit of Aussie pride!
Listening to all this girl has achieved at her age is amazing.
Travelling to the North Pole – when she had skied once.
Nothing says smashing the boundaries like that does.
She was humorous, honest and refreshing. Raising valid points about the pressures and expectations of being a girl in todays society.
Her main message #expandpossible and that’s exactly what she does from the get go – encouraging girls and young women to think bigger going forward.

Ishita Katyal
The longest 5 minute talk and not in a bad way.
She leaves you with multiple aha moments.
Her biggest point – why do we wait to grow up to be the person we want to be. Why do we ask the question “what do you want to be when you grow up”.
She’s an author, because she wanted to be. She speaks on TED! She’s 11.
This doesn’t mean we have to go conquering the world at 6 (unless you want to) but it does say that we shouldn’t limit ourselves by age.
We should encourage ourselves and the people around us to take action to be the person we want to be now, whoever that is.

I’m not going to lie, these girls can give you a bit of the “what I have done with my life” feeling.
But once you really start to think and the more you start to watch, you realise how inspiring these speeches are.
All they offer is simple advice.
Be who you want to be. Do what you want to do.
But when it comes from someone of that age it offers a different insight.
Are our limitations real? Probably not.
By becoming the people that want to be, they inspire us to do so too.
So final lessons for the day!
Be who you want to be, #expand possible and most importantly, don’t wait until you grow up to do that!
