When we make a decision how do we listen to our head AND our heart?
We have SO much information around us now that making a decision can be tough and overwhelming. Whether we’re making a decision on a relationship, a job, or another major life choice, we can often feel stuck between choosing between our head OR our heart.
So how do we make a decision with BOTH? Do we really have to choose?
In this episode, I cover how to make a decision with your head AND your heart! It comes down to ONE simple question that can help us to make decisions based on what our head/logic tells us but also what our heart does!

Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hi there and welcome to searching for better. I’m Julia, and I’m the blogger behind searching for better.net, which is now the podcast searching for better is all about exploring ideas on how to find our path in life and to live it wholeheartedly. So welcome to our shirt, and I really, really hope you enjoy it. Right.
Speaker 2 (00:22):
Hi guys. And welcome to this episode of searching for better. I’m really excited to bring this topic to you today, and it is how to choose or make a decision with your head and your heart. And I feel like this is such a big one because I just feel like this is the simple episode, but it’s one of those tiny aha moments that I feel like really could have. We all could have used a bit of this info when we were making big decisions when we were younger or key decisions that we felt were really going to impact our lives. And you know what? I think it even comes down to small decisions as well. So again, this goes back to one of my favorite speakers at the moment who is Bruce Lipton, Dr. Bracelet Lipton. He talks about the biology of belief and that’s also what his book is called.
Speaker 2 (01:05):
So he has this really great short YouTube video. And it’s really sweet. He’s sitting in a he’s sitting in a boat and he’s trying to get his bearings. And he’s talking about how other people to gave him directions and told him what to do. And I really resonated with that because I think that symbolizes something that we all go through when we’re trying to make a decision. Sometimes we’re stuck between our head and our heart. We are listening to what everyone else is telling us to do what society says that we want to do versus what we feel we might want to do. And sometimes we’re not even entirely sure how we feel about a situation. So I just want to share something simple that Bruce Lipton wrote in the description of this YouTube video.
Speaker 3 (01:46):
And it really just goes
Speaker 2 (01:47):
To show just a simple way of thinking about how to make a decision or choose something with your head and your heart. So he wrote perhaps the best solution in decision-making is first to assess a situation by using mental analysis, comparing and rating the perceptions of the resulting pros and cons. Once the mind arrives at a decision, sit back and ask, how do I feel about this decision if the head and the heart agrees and express good vibes, move forward with your decision. But if the heart experiences an awakening of the body’s energy going towards bad vibes, or if the feelings cause doubt to arise, it means the energy field does not fully support the mind’s decision. And he applies that a further review may be necessary. So this is really fancy, but I just want to bring in my own personal experience of
Speaker 3 (02:37):
This situation. So especially
Speaker 2 (02:39):
With the content that I’ve tried to create and the work that I’ve tried to bring forward, often times my head has all my logical side has looked at what other people are doing St how other people have been successful online so that I can create the lifestyle that I would like to make for myself and for my family. And the logical part of me has said, okay, well, if this person’s I’m X, Y, and Zed, then I’m, I have to do X, Y, and Z. And the thing with me is I’ve done a lot of that. And a lot of that, I’ve never actually thought about how I feel about something. I mean, I’ve felt it, but I’ve never actually taken the time to be aware of how I’m feeling. So for example, this membership is quite challenging to me. So the theory is there, but when I actually think about making this decision, it feels right.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
So even though there’s fear there, there’s still excitement. There’s still kind of like that intuitive feeling that this is for me. Whereas previously, I’ve tried to do other things like planners and other sort of educational, informational products, but that’s always been a logical move. I’ve always listened to what everyone else has suggested and never taken the time to stop and think about how I feel about something. So even though the logical part of me and the decision-making I can understand has definitely impacted the way I think. I just don’t think that the heart part of the situation is something that we really take into consideration enough. So for example so I’ve, I sort of looked at the different ways that I could create a business online through doing the things that I love to do, and eventually got to this point of the membership.
Speaker 2 (04:15):
And when I did it felt right. So that goes back down to that whole thing of me having all the different decisions. So I can create a product. I can create a principal, or I can create a membership. I had those three decisions and it was really interesting because I’ve tried the other two and I’ve never felt right, but the membership feels like this is where I’m supposed to be at this point. So for me, that’s an, that’s an example of how I’ve made a decision with both my head and my heart, because first I’ve looked at the different things that I can do. I’ve had a look at the different things that people have done, but then I’ve allowed my heart to come into it by assessing what feels right. And I really loved the way he explains that the good vibes, whether it brings energy or whether it takes energy.
Speaker 2 (04:54):
And that’s something that’s so important when it comes to our decision-making. And this is something that I talk about in goal setting as well. You are, how do we want to feel, how is this going to make us feel? And I think for me, the membership just sat with me in so many different ways, because I understood that a course for me, wasn’t enough. I really wanted to engage with people. And I understand that this work is not as simple as just creating a course and letting people go. I really wanted to keep it as a consistent process, which is why I’ve decided to go for the membership model. But again, something that involves a little bit of logic, but also a little bit of heart,
Speaker 3 (05:28):
The best of both worlds. And it’s amazing because
Speaker 2 (05:31):
As I started to do this work, I don’t, I feel tired in the sense that I’m mainly meaningfully tired. That’s how I like to say it, where I end the day where I’m tired, because obviously I’ve exerted a lot of energy, but I feel as I’ve created a lot of meaning at the same time. Whereas when something I have to do something and it’s not, and my heart’s not a hundred percent behind it, it just takes energy. There’s no level of meaning. There’s no, there’s none of that experience for me. Whereas I might feel tired from doing this work at the end of the day, but I’m always ready to go and full of energy the next day, because I’ve done something meaningful. Yes, it’s taken energy, but in some ways it’s added energy to me, for me as well. So I hope that process helps.
Speaker 2 (06:12):
And I know it’s such a simple, straightforward idea when I heard him speak. And when I watched this video, I was like, this is so simple, but it’s such a great idea. So look at the logical decisions, work through that, maybe for you. It’s the same thing. It’s an online business, or maybe there’s a bigger decision at hand, or maybe it’s a relationship or maybe it’s a career decision. And then look at the different situations, sit with yourself and see how you feel about them. What vibes do you get from it? What energy do you get from it? Or does it just take energy? Does it feel meaningful? What does it feel like for you? So I know I’ve probably spoken really quickly in this episode, but this is just something that was game changing for me. And I hope that it really resonates with you as well. And I hope that in the next decision that you make, that you feel like you’re really struggling to decide between your head and your heart, this video, or this episode comes into play for you and helps you and helps for all of us to remember that we can make a decision with the
Speaker 3 (07:06):
Best of both worlds. So thank you so much
